Santana will try and push through their fast tracked gold mine within a matter of weeks. So it’s important that as many people as possible are informed, understand some of the horrendous issues, and know what they can do about it.
We are holding urgent public meetings in Dunedin on the evening of Tuesday 17 June, and in Wānaka two days later on Thursday 19 June. Further details about the meeting, and the mine, are below on this page, but here’s the sign-up form to attend either of the meetings.
It helps us if you sign up for the meeting – so that we can have enough room for everyone – but if you can’t sign up or don’t want to, just turn up!
Here are details of each of the meetings:
- Dunedin, 7:00pm Tuesday 17 June 2025
Hutton Theatre, Tūhura Otago Museum
419 Great King Street, Dunedin North, Dunedin 9016 - Wānaka, 7:00pm Thursday 19 June 2025
Wānaka Presbyterian Church Hall
94 Tenby Street Wānaka 9305
Update: speakers and panelists
Update Sunday 15 June 2025.
We are now able to confirm the speakers and panelists for each event. They are listed below.

Organised by concerned community groups
These evenings have been organised by a combination of concerned groups and are being coordinated by volunteers at Sustainable Tarras Inc. Our thanks to other volunteers who are generously putting in time from Dunedin, Central Otago, and further afield. A special thank you to the Central Otago Environmental Society and also Central Otago Lakes Forest & Bird, for their input and support.
